Rob began his career in music while attending the University of Maryland School of Music from 2011 to 2015. He studied under renowned local musicians, including Gerry Kunkel, Tom Baldwin, and Chris Vadala, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar performance. Since graduating, he has continued to study the guitar and has been fortunate to work with some of his heroes on the instrument, including Julian Lage, Larry Coryell, and Andrew Renfroe.
Over the past decade, Rob has worked throughout the Washington metropolitan area as a guitarist and electric bassist. He has performed with local acts including, Laissez Foure, Well Played, The Capitol Focus Jazz Band, Alexander Gallows, Chicx Guapx, Boss Company, Scotch and Soda, Black Masala, A-tet, and many more. These various performance opportunities have provided Rob with a wealth of experience playing many different styles of music.
In addition to his busy performance schedule, Rob teaches music to students of all ages and experience levels on several instruments, including guitar, ukulele, electric bass, piano, banjo, and tenor banjo. He also offers lessons in songwriting and music theory. His mission as an educator is to give his students the tools they need to make their own musical discoveries and advance along their own artistic paths. His philosophy is that teaching music is not a one-size-fits-all process and that lessons should be personalized as much as possible to fit each student’s individual needs.
